Typical industrial uses
Injection moulding
Used on injection-moulding barrels and heating zones where stable process heat is required around a cylindrical surface.
Extrusion
Suitable for extrusion barrel zones that need higher-temperature heating and better insulation than a conventional mica band construction.
Continuous process machinery
Applied on machinery that operates for long production cycles and benefits from a well-fitted, insulated band-heater construction.
High-temperature barrels
Used where the barrel or process requires a ceramic band construction selected for the operating temperature, watt density and surrounding conditions.
Choosing the correct ceramic band heater
The heater should match the barrel diameter and width closely so heat is transferred into the machine instead of being lost through an uneven air gap. The required wattage depends on the process, barrel mass, operating temperature, insulation and heat losses; wattage should not be selected from dimensions alone.
When replacing an existing ceramic heater, provide the old heater size, voltage, wattage, connection position and a photograph showing clamps, terminals and cut-outs. For a new machine, also share the required process temperature, number of zones and available temperature controller.
Ceramic band heaters can be produced with different terminal and lead arrangements to suit machine clearances. If external heat loss is a concern, share the installation photographs so an insulated jacket-style solution can be considered.
